About Scott Scale bikes

Scale is Scott's performance hardtail Mountain Bike range which offers models with both aluminium frames (Scale 80, 70, 60, 50, 40) and carbon fibre frames ( Scale 35, 30, 20, 10, RC, Premium, SL). With their more aggressive geometry and 100mm of front suspension travel Scale models are perfect for more serious riders looking for a fast, race ready bike for tackling cross country terrain and trails. All models in the aluminium framed Scale range use a 6061 custom butted frame and come with hydraulic disc brakes. All models in the carbon fibre framed Scale range feature a combined tubular seatstay, chainstay & dropout design to save weight. The rear triangle also uses Scott's SDS (Shock Damping System) technology which minimizes frequency vibration from the ground enabling a damping effect without loosing performance. Other frame features include a press fit BB30 bottom bracket which increases stiffness around the bottom bracket area and saves weight and a tapered head tube for increased stiffness and steering precision. The Scott Scale 35, 30, 20, 10 all use HMF carbon fibre whereas the top end Scale RC, Premium and SL models all employ Scott's even stiffer HMX carbon fibre which has helped them produce the lightest MTB frame currently in production, weighing in at 899grams. A range of 29" wheeled, aluminium and carbon fibre framed Scale 29 models with 100mm of front suspension travel are also available. For a cheaper range of hartail Mountain Bikes with a more relaxed geometry consider bikes from Scott's Aspect range.

Scott says

The Scales are designed for maximum efficiency and minimal weight. These bikes have modest amounts of front suspension and are the lightest in their class.

Weighing less than 899 grams the HMX Scale frame is the lightest MTB frame ever produced.
