On a ride from our house in the centre of Bourg d'Oisans you will be able to feel the history of the Tour de France as you ride over the names of many past greats painted on the roads. As you climb or descend you will get to see fantastic scenery including snow capped mountains beautiful lakes and rivers and a fair few other cyclist all sharing the same breathtaking experience as you.
Along the way you will find idyllic cafes and restaurants in
traditional alpine villages perched on the side of the mountains.
Here you will be welcomed in by the owners for the traditional
coffee or snack.
The area is frequently included in the Tour de France and the
Marmotte is held every year in July.
Also in the summer months the local tourist office provide a timed
race up Alpe d'Huez on a Thursday morning.
This area really is a mecca for the road cyclist seeking to
challenge themselves like their great Tour de France heroes.
As part of our service, if you like our support vehicle can drive
you to your start location in the morning so that you can ride back
to Bourg d'Oisans or if you prefer we can come and pick you up in
the afternoon. We are also available to pick you up in case
of any serious mechanical or injury and bring you back to base.
(This service is not available on one day a week)
As part of the service Phil will put a list of rides together for
the week that he will be doing (subject to his availability) and
you can either ride with him or simply do your own thing. If its
just route advice you are after then we are happy to provide this
as well.
