We all know the importance of keeping our bikes clean but, for most sane cyclists, it's a pain in the backside and only Top Trumped by turbo training on the boredom stakes. It's a necessary evil though and, living in the Peak District with its drive chain eating gritstone mud, is an almost daily chore. Any product that makes it quicker, easier and more convenient is a winner in my book. Muc-Off have been a bike maintenance market leader for years and the Pit Kit puts together a comprehensive collection of their top quality products.
First up, you get a litre bottle, along with a spray cap, of their iconic Biodegradable Bike Cleaner. If you've never used this "Pink Magic" before and are still in the Fairy Liquid camp, give it a go. You'll be genuinely amazed at how well it shifts even baked on grime and it's safe with all materials you'll find on your bike, including carbon fibre. Next, you get a full set of brushes including a soft washing brush, two prong brush, detailing brush and a claw brush. The brushes are all high quality and mean you can get at even the most inaccessible and fiddly areas. You also get an ever useful sponge and the handy snap lid box doubles up as a bucket. Finally, a 500ml can of water dispersing and protective Bike Spray finishes off the package. It's suitable for frame, drive chain, metal parts and paintwork and leaves a shiny protective covering. Particularly if used on the frame, you're bike will stay considerably cleaner than your mates next time you head out.
If I'm being uber critical, you'll also need some form of degreaser and the ubiquitous old rag for a complete and thorough clean but, for a convenient post-ride scrub, everything you need is there. It all fits neatly in the box and is ideal for chucking in the car if you're heading to a Trail Centre.
Most importantly, it saves you a bit of cash. Buy all the brushes and cleaning products separately and it'll set you back almost £32. So, as well as saving a useful £2, you get the bucket and the sponge for free. Not a mega generous deal but, in these time of economic crisis, every little bit helps.
