Performance

There is an art to dislodging an insect from your cornea at 21mph. It requires you to use your one good eye to keep check on your progress as you maintain a steady cadence and turn your other eyeball skywards in and attempt to prod and flush it out of your eye socket.
Alternatively, as the
majority of us have already realised, you can buy a decent pair of
glasses. And this set from Tifosi are lightweight, affordable and
very comfortable. They come with two vents just above the lens that
allow air to circulate, which keeps your face cool and the lenses
free from fog.
The extremely comfortable nose grip is made of a hydrophillic rubber that does not slip when you sweat. And thanks to the adjustable arms you can tailor the grip at the back of the head to ensure these don't slide off when you've got your head down on a high speed descent.
There are four options for lenses and, unlike other glasses that I've been struggling with for a while, these can be changed exceptionally easily. On a sunny day you can opt for the smoke lens option, yellow for when you need your mood lifting on gloomy mornings, red lenses for changeable days and clear for mid-winter evening rides. And these can be stored in a hardcase that keeps them and the glasses well protected when not in use.
I get slightly claustrophobic behind glasses after
an hour or two, but the venting here kept me sufficiently cool and
the lightweight meant I totally forgot I was wearing them. They
performed brilliantly and only fogged up slightly on really cold
mornings or when out cycling with friends and tipping my head to
the side to chat as we cycled, which was weird!
And because the lenses protect from UVA and UVB, they won't just protect you from flying bugs and stray vegetation, but will also shield you from the worst of the sun's harmful rays.
With superb comfort that definitely outstrips other pairs I've been wearing recently, these are definitely worth checking out.
