If you are into mountain biking and want to advance your skills
then this could be the book for you. Colourful, inspirational
and linked to online video clips that demonstrate the skills
- if you don't get to the end of this book without being able to do
a bunny hop or increase your air time then you clearly have been
reading with your eyes closed.
The book divides the skills into 10 sections starting out with the
basics and advancing readers through the skills essential for even
the ballsy mountain biker. It is easy to read, you can flick though
to the sections that are relevant to your level of experience, and
even if the tricks are beyond you, you will be left
inspired by looking at what it is possible to achieve.
Throughout the book Martyn's passion for biking is obvious and
quite infectious.
Once you have grasped the fundamental basic skills such as track stands, front wheel and rear wheel lifts wheelies, and bunny hops you can dare to start on the more advanced skills. This includes looking at your take off and landing skills, manual-ing, drop offs and back hops! What's fantastic is the book relates the skill to the right environment to practice in. For the ambitious you can look at 360's, back flips and wall riding for the majority of riders, we can just dream.
The photographic images throughout the book are lively and
colourful and capture a series of the positions to enable you to
pull off the move on the Mountain Bike. Clearer descriptions
labeling each step would be helpful in some sections, so the reader
can identify with each movement required.
Though if you are in any doubt of what is required of you then you
can flick across to the website www.mtbtricks.co.uk and
watch on line as the pro's pull of the respective stunts. The
combination of a clear written description, pictures and video
makes this book a valuable learning tool for youngsters and adults
alike.
