Giant's first full suspension 29er bike is out now. The
Anthem X 29er features a lightweight frame, a racy geometry, a 30
speed Shimano groupset, 100mm suspension front and rear and of
course, 29" wheels. Want it? It'll set you back £2950, the
same price as the regular wheeled 26" version of the Anthem
X1.
Giant are no strangers
to most bike types, including road, touring, hybrid, mountain, kids
and electric bikes and their new 2011 range is out now, but the
furthest they have previously pushed their 29ers is a hard tail,
the XTC 29er 1, see The Bike List review here.
It will be exciting to see how this new full suspension 29er
performs.
Giant are confident about the success of the new Anthem X 29er.
"The legendary speed and agility of the Anthem X gets the big wheel
boost," they say. "Developed with the help of Giant XC pros and
raced to victory at its very first event, the Anthem X29er is all
systems go."
Also new for
2011 is the TCR Composite range of entry level carbon fibre road
racing bikes. The frames are handcrafted from Toray T-600 raw
composite material to produce a light bike designed to handle
precisely with a snappy power transfer. The TCR Composite 2 is
£1650 and the TCR Composite 1 is £2000.
The women's Aeryn is another new entry that caught The Bike List's
eye. This £1500 aluminium-framed 20-speed ride is designed to
reduce drag and stay comfortable with its aerodynamic profile and
women's specific geometry.
