Kona says

The ultimate flat bar commuter bike for discerning, dedicated cyclists. A bike built to tear city streets a new centerline. It's the beautiful burger that comes with all the deluxe components, like a Shimano drivetrain and hydraulic disc brakes. In the words of George Clinton from Parliament Funkadelic, "Do fries go with that shake?" Yes, good cycling friend, yes they do.

Owner Reviews

I totally agree with the review left by Dave. Armed with a wallet containing 500 quid and very little knowledge on what is good and what is bad, I started my hunt for a good quality, knocked down price, last years model - hybrid bike. To be honest i wish I could say that i was an expert in leaving a detailed review about the quality of the forks, how amazingly awesome the gear shifters are and have an understanding of the different metals that are used to make the componants - but unfortunatly I cant. To be honest all the reviews that I have read with those details have really confused me because all I am interested in 1) is it fast 2) is it light 3) is it robust 4) can I afford it????????? Well if you have similar interests, then all i can say is dont worry about the technical crap, if you are not interested in suspension forks - as this bike does not have them and it falls into your price bracket then buy this bike because it is wicked and worth every penny. Example - Im a big guy, I never used to be but the years have taken there toll. I went on a 20 mile bike ride with my missus on my Kona last weekend (the maiden voyage) and it was like riding on a cloud. Unlike my old diamondback mountain bike that I have that when going down hills, you pedal so fast that the bike cannot give you anymore - my shiny new Kona is like a race horse I cant beat it hard enough for it give up when going down hills, there is still tension in the chain to give me the chance to go faster and faster and the bike is so bloody light. I think me and the kona are going to have a great summer together and fingers crossed im not going to be the big guy I was come Autumn.
P.s even if the bike is a little over budget find the extra and buy it or if it is under budget, buy it and top up your spend with a set of cateye bike lights, I almost cried when I paid 90 quid for the latest lights but after charging the battery and turning it on I realised I had more or less a nuclear reactor hanging off my handle bars they are that bright.

The dewdeluxe is my first aluminium hybrid, having had a Scott cromoly budget hybrid before the Kona. From me it is a 10 out of 10. This bike is a great road bike, but when you want to do light trails (here in West Sussex chalk trails abound) you can really rocket along. The bike is relatively light and the forks are steel. This makes for a winning combination. I am changing the saddle and I've added foot stays to the standard but good pedals. As my fitness levels re-build i feel this bike will take all i can give it and I find the gearing just right. A peach of a bike. Kona are going to stay in the hybrid sector for a long time to come in my opinion.
