Just noticed the comment about "the most ineffective" breaks (and no, I don't work for Giant!) -- I weigh 12 1/2 stone and didn't notice any problem with the breaks. I've ridden all kinds of bikes -- from £80 Emelle mountain bikes that rust in a brief rain shower (well, you get my meaning) -- to carbon-framed Bianchi speed demons and, I have to say...no brakes have ever failed to stop me. You get used to what you have. Perhaps 'dav' had problems with his particular bike? The brakes on mine are more than adequate.

Had the bike a week and been out a couple of times:
1st trip: approx 7 miles, along canal path of varied surface. Bike was comfortable, brakes were fine. A pleasure to ride.
2nd trip: 4 mile ride to friend's place for a party. Low gearing forced me to ride slowly, so I therefore didn't arrive in a sweat! Felt like I was back in Amsterdam.

I've also folded the bike and transported it via car, which wasn't a problem. The bike folded swiftly and didn't take up much space in the boot. I got mine for 200 quid (second hand, and only a year old), which is an absolute bargain. I agree with some comments about it being low geared -- you can't go too fast (say, above 18 mph) -- but I don't see that as being a problem. I'll use it mainly for commuting, so the lower speed will stop me sweating profusely and, when I fancy a more leisurely cycle, this will definitely be the bike I take.

Great bike apart from the brakes , the most ineffective of any cycle i have ever ridden.
An absolute danger, should carry a health warning.
