Folding bikes are great for commuters who also have to use public
transport. They have several joints, usually lockable, so you can
fold the bike and carry it easily on to buses, trains and into
taxis. They are also easier to store, and might even fit under your
desk at work which is safer than chaining it up outside.
The distance between the saddle, pedals and handlebars is pretty much the same as a normal bike and for average riders there is little speed performance difference with a regular bike on the road.
The main difference is the price. The complexity of the folding mechanism makes them much more expensive than a standard bike with similar specifications.
