Owner Reviews

by Rob  on 7 Jul 2011
I brought this bike six weeks ago through the Cycle2Work scheme. I am no expert on bikes and only have previous experience with riding cheaper mountain bikes. I was slightly concerned about purchasing the bike through Halfords as there are some poor reviews on the net claiming that their staff are cluless at building/servicing bikes. To be honest, I took the risk all the same as I knew it was a boardman I wanted from the outset.
Firstly the bike. £1,000 is a lot of money in my opinion but the bike is fantastic. So easy to generate huge speed straight from the traffic lights. Gears are smooth and precise every time. Brakes are excellent in the wet or dry. One issue I have found is that the standard Continental Ultra 28x700c tyres supplied with the bike pick up punctures very easily, after four days of riding in my case. I appeared to have rectified this though by fitting Continental GatorSkin tyres. 400 miles later and no punctures!!! I highly recommend them.

Now for the main reason for my review....From start to finish, my local Halfords branch (Nuneaton, Warwichshire) have been second to none. Excellent customer service/advice.
I was worried that my bike would be set up incorrectly after reading some poor reviews regarding their staff but since day one it has felt solid as a rock and rides perfectly. I have no regrets buying from Halfords and will continue to service by bike there.
